Spring Hike at Shenandoah National Park
Meet at Warrenton Community Center..... 8:15am - 6pm
Ages 14 –Adult. Ages 17 and under must have an adult chaperone.
Come out and enjoy the 1st blush of spring! End your cabin fever and spend the day
hiking some of the most beautiful woods in the country. See the spring flowers,
search for local wildlife, or sit back and enjoy an afternoon by a babbling brook.
There are several trails to choose from—you can pick the one that is most
appealing to you.
Transportation is by school bus. Trip fee includes transportation, staffng and park
entrance fee. Please bring water (no glass bottles), packed-lunch or money for lunch.

As the sky darkens, find out about U.S. space research from the NASA Jet Propulsion
Lab’s “Solar System Ambassadors.” At dark, take a sky tour with Sean O’Brien of the
Smithsonian’s Albert Einstein Planetarium, and look for deep sky objects through
large telescopes with the Northern Virginia Astronomy Club. If the sky is cloudy,
only the NASA/JPL program will be presented, and the park gates will close at
10:00 PM. Bring your children ½ hour early for a special “Junior Astronomer” activity.

Come see this once-a-year event - the shearing of our Alpacas and the process of
gatherine our crop of fiber. We will have samples of items that are made from the
warm, silky Alpaca fiber.
Some items made from alpaca fiber such as socks,
rovings
(alpaca fiber ready to be hand spun), and yarn will be available for sale.
You will be most comfortable if you wear shoes and
clothes that you don't mind
getting dirty and/or muddy.
