The Sound of Music - Theatre Performance

Set amidst the splendor of the Austrian Alps, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s beloved
classic has won the hearts of audiences the world over. The Sound of Music is the
enchanting story of Maria, a spirited young novice who, leaves the abbey to become
the
governess
of seven motherless children. Warming the heart of their stern widowed
father, Maria discovers that the power of music and the magic of love may be all she
needs to find her way.
(The score includes "My Favorite Things," "Do Re Mi," "Climb Ev’ry Mountain,"

The Virginia Gold Cup is a grand spring tradition as welll as a fixture on the

calendar. Run in Fauquier County since 1922 and attended by over 45,000
spectators,
this race is one of the largest and most popular sporting events in the
greater
Washington metropolitan area. Race day features seven hurdle and timber
horses
races, Jack Russell Terrier races, tent, tailgate and hat contest, a parachute

Astronomy for Everyone

As the sky darkens, find out about U.S. space research from the NASA Jet Propulsion
Lab’s “Solar System Ambassadors.” At dark, take a sky tour with Sean O’Brien of the
Smithsonian’s Albert Einstein Planetarium, and look for deep sky objects through
large telescopes with the Northern Virginia Astronomy Club. If the sky is cloudy,
only the NASA/JPL program will be presented, and the park gates will close at
10:00 PM. Bring your children ½ hour early for a special “Junior Astronomer” activity.
