Celebrate National Kids to Parks Day with a fun-filled day in nature! Explore our Picnic Area with an exciting day of nature programs.

Children’s Discovery Area: Challenge yourself in our Certified Nature Explorer classroom, where learning and nature become one. Join a storyteller in our outdoor library or visit the TRACK Trail for self-discovery.

Sensory Explorer’s Trail: Explore our 0.3-mile nature trail that has adaptations for blind and visually impaired. The Sensory Explorers’ Trail provides opportunities to explore billion-year-old geology, experience bird songs in the forest, learn about vernal pools, and more!

Pollinator Plot Tour: Meet with Virginia Master Naturalists to learn the importance of pollinators and how to grow your own pollinator plot at home.

About National Kids to Parks Day

Virginia State Parks celebrates National Kids to Parks Day on the third Saturday in May by offering a variety of fun, family-friendly activities, from nature scavenger hunts and ranger-led hikes to fishing clinics and flora and fauna wagon rides. This annual event encourages kids to explore the outdoors while learning about wildlife and engaging in hands-on environmental education.
